Via the uterus (who saw him in HS
) I hear that REM will play a concert in Lima on Nov. 14 at the Jockey Club del Peru. As seeing is believing, I checked the official website
and there it is: Peru will have the privilege of having live to the supergroup of Michael Stipe that I liked more when I learned that he was a close friend of Kurt Cobain (another idol).
(It is said that even Kurt heard a song - I forget which - REM ultradepresiva when he pulled the trigger.)Calamaro in October, November REM, Radiohead in March 2009 in Argentina ... poisoning of good music in the coming months ... Poker is completed with Blur or Green Day (the She, please).

can you tell me about Let Me In "?
Michael S: It's a song I wrote for Kurt Cobain
after committing suicide. You should do this without getting emotional, I lost a friend in October, River Phoenix was a friend too close and have never felt a profound loss like that. I could not write for five months, we had already started filming in September, had two songs ready and River died. Having created Automatic for the People, was not ready to write about loss and death, so I took 5 months to return to sit escibir. then half done "Monster" Kurt died, here's where I wrote "Let Me In." So when you say: "Hey, Let me in", you are speaking to Cobain
Michael S.
: That's me talking on the phone, trying desperately to get him out of the box in which it was insane. In the most friendly - BY GOD, I hate that term - of the most original, wanted let him know that he was not paying attention to all this, he was going to do it. If REM had sold 5 million copies of "Murmur", none of us would be alive to tell the story, really I believe that.
Kurt and what else you have in common
Michael Stipe: I think one of the things I've been successful as an artist is to avoid a lot of cliches, I have tried to blur the lines and much of that is related to sexuality. I like writing songs that are not a genre. really felt a bond between Kurt and River in their respective fields, do the same.
The Cliche you carry in your career is that when you started, you were very shy
Michael Stipe
: Not a cliche, death is real, and that's the part that I dragged River. I recognize that in him. The first time I saw him, his hair completely covering his face. And I thought "God, that's me at 22." There is an incredible vulnerability between what River, Kurt and I do or did.
Before his death, Cobain said everything I wanted to do was to record with you. You know what kind of music I had thought about doing?
Michael Stipe: Yeah, Cobain talked a lot about the direction he was taking. That is, I knew how I was going to blow the next disc
Nirvana, was to be soft and acoustic, it would be an excellent album, I'm a bit annoyed with him for having committed. Cobain and I were going to record an album, a demo. Everything was ready. He had a plane ticket, a car picking you up at the last minute he called and said "I can not go." All REM awakening
