Guillermo Thorndike's dead and keyboard rattle incessantly. It speaks of his skill as a storyteller , wasted his talent and how discredited journalism Peruan or from time feu Velasco, of when he helped raise overthrow Fujimori and Vargas Llosa , how preferred silence to answer MVLL harsh words for it, and when he formed ranks of psychosocial press team fuji-Montesinos.
So not much to opine of Thorndike. I'll just say I like his books, I like since I read 'The revolution impossible' in my high school years, if not understand anything and just left me caught up in their atmospheres, their dialogue, that is as neat and captivating that I had to have stories. And then I went looking for his books. I wanted - I want - write as well. So do not opinaré anything, but share something.
In November last year I contacted him asking him to collaborate with the Featherweight page that is published on Saturdays - but these last weeks of advertising takes its place - in supplement the cover of Total Sport of Trade. In this exchange of emails before and after working with a text on the last days of 'hose' Villanueva , famous Alianza Lima forward, I asked some questions about how did the research for 'The case Banchero. " Copy and paste the mails. Out there want to have time to finish his latest book. Perhaps this is one of the few good lessons that some attributed to 'gringo'. ----------------

Don Guillermo. I was reading, as I said, Banchero case. I interrupted because my copy was not achieved in Amazonas good and has some blank pages, but apart from that minor inconvenience (and get another, do not worry), I wanted to tell that I was impressed with the amount of detail that tells not only in this, but in all his books. I imagined that his inquiry was an initial survey of two thousand questions per person. It is an exaggeration, I suppose, but I wanted to ask, if not daring, how is it generally the process of research for your books? You never feel satisfied with the information it collects? Do you use collaborators or do it all yourself? How long it took for the case Banchero? All these questions are personal concerns of readers, Guillermo. A hug. Fernando

Banchero's case is a good book. I finished in Barcelona and I got married in Andorra, whose Virgin of Meritxell the name we gave our daughter was born eleven years later.
I was a personal friend of Banchero. Since 1962, November when I went to work with Villa, until November 1971, two months before his death, maintained a friendship quite rich in experiences. I do not know if you heard speak of the parish, as we called a house we shared in Miraflores with Manuel Scorza, Cesar Calvo, Reynaldo Naranjo and I, who was paying rent. A parish that used to go with some frequency Banchero. Another frequent visitor was Raul Villa. Many characters arriving: Chabuca Granda, Romualdo, Xavier Abril, Juan Jose Vega, Mario Benedetti, Enrique Solari, Juan Gonzalo Rose, Patricia Aspillaga and friends of her to rehearse real Bohemian baths, Enrique Lihn, Lemlij Moses, Ricardo Grau, Valentina , former Black Peru Ronaldo Campos to the head, I was producer and, with Cesar Calvo, author of the screenplay for The land was ours and, later, producer of The Black Navidfad when Lucho Banchero hold took over. Were just two years, but very intense and adventurous. Many more people came and went. Peace is sometimes made for a month or two and then wrote. That was the end of Rancas Strengthen and Scorza advanced novels about peasant struggles. Calvo ended his pedestal there for anyone. There was a disc with the poetry of Vallejo. There were recorded discs (old LP) did Naranjo with sung poetry. Returning to your question, in those 9 years Daily Mail appeared, Eye, I wrote my first book Seriously, the year of barbarity. I had friends at that time with Haya de la Torre, outside the party, and in these meetings was included Banchero. Also knew her sisters, her mother. Let's say I get by had soaked enough in this respect Banchero, his personality, his own mouth stories.
I had to seek after the vision of others who had known him closely. For this I traveled along the coast, from Tacna to Paita. I interviewed over sixty people, including fishermen, entrepreneurs, Ivory Dancer, the mad Moncada, captains of fishing you various nationalities. Many interviews were with groups of people who were very friendly and shared memories. The interviews could be between one and three. From experience, more than three does not work because they get tired of respondents. In the end, Pepe Santos Chichozola was my college classmate and my old friend. The investigation lasted three or four months. He also had a good personal archive of clippings and publications.
Next year should be banned out secrets, largely set in the parish. Edit Planet. Anyway, hopefully get to finish telling my stories. The body takes its toll, as my godfather Leoncio Bueno. And takes its toll primarily for those years when no one remembered the body.
holiday I fished early and gave me the parrot. No matter, we will gladly Fernando. Receive a warm hug.
No choice but to revise the picture of Amazon soils and the center of Lima, my books go out of print. A warm hug
